SONOMA PARADISO CHILDREN'S CONCERT
BRINGS MUSIC AND LAUGHTER TO CHILDREN SERVED BY THE CHARITIES WE SUPPORT
A few months back, the Sonoma Paradiso Foundation hosted 1,500 very special children at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. On
that bright Tuesday in July, 'The Animated Orchestra: Peanuts Gallery and Comic Classics' debuted with its playfully mesmerizing original
live performance — becoming the fifth annual charitable children's concert funded solely by the same auction paddles you hold in your
hands today.
With an audience comprised of youth from children's organizations in Sonoma County, local radio personality Marcy Smothers
engaged the young attendees with a spirited narration, as the Santa Rosa Symphony conjured up musical magic under the direction of
Youth Orchestra Conductor Richard Loheyde.
All eyes (and ears!) were transfixed, as The Peanuts Gallery unfolded. Composed by Ellen Zwilich in 1997, these six fanciful pieces were
a celebration of — and tribute to — the beloved Peanuts characters and their creator, local legend Charles Schulz. Mrs. Charles Schulz
worked closely with the Sonoma Paradiso Foundation to lure the Peanuts musical characters from their vast travels, and bring them
back home to Sonoma. And right on cue, much to the delight of all our participants, Snoopy made a surprise appearance and led a
Samba dance on stage!
In the end, Maestro Loheyde led the musicians in 'What's Up at the Symphony'
- a compilation of music from the Bugs Bunny cartoon series, then finishing
with the sneaky music from The Pink Panther.
But the enchantment was made even more riveting as San Francisco's worldrenowned
Circus Center teetered, contorted, and flew through the air to the
delight of everyone below.
And all of it was made possible by a simple paddle.
The one you hold in your hand.

THIS YEAR'S SHOW WAS A SUCCESS THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF ALL OF YOU WHO RAISED YOUR PADDLES LAST YEAR.
THIS YEAR LET'S DO IT AGAIN FOR THE KIDS.
This fun-filled day is a highly anticipated outing for the many children who take part in the Sonoma Paradiso Concert and Educational Program. Our young
audience is drawn from over 100 organizations that serve children in Sonoma, Napa and the greater Bay Area. Prior to their attendance at the concert,
the children are introduced to the music through a fun lesson plan which brings music and art education to each organization. The free concert allows the
children to experience live symphony and learn more about the power of music and the arts.
The concert is made possible exclusively by generous paddle-bearers at the annual
SONOMA PARADISO CHARITABLE AUCTION
