Tucked away in the far reaches of Knights Valley is Peter Michael Winery. A private location visited by invited guests only, the winery is one of Knights Valley's most awesome locations-perched on a rocky volcanic ledge, from which emerges elegant estate wines.
One such wine is the Peter Michael Les Pavots Single Vineyard Estate Red Bordeaux Blend. Made from grapes grown in the Estate's Les Pavots Vineyard, it is a rich and full-bodied wine that offers impressions of ripe red cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry and blackberry on the palate. The mouth feel is creamy, with gorgeous velvet and slightly firm tannins, which lead to a long finish.
Winemaking at Peter Michael serves exclusively to preserve the quintessential character, flavor, and personality of each vineyard so as to convey a sense of place. The Les Pavots vineyard is perched at nearly 1,800 feet on the slopes of Mt. St. Helena is named for the wild California poppies that surround it. Its hillside location's unique characteristics are captured in this wine with grace and elegance.
